One unique feature about Louisville's daycare for preschool, school-age and infants, A to Z Childcare, is that we use an "app" to help you stay updated throughout the day. This is a free service for all parents.
Now you can get peace of mind every day with real-time updates on the activities of your children sent directly to your computer or mobile device!
Get photos and status updates on the activities your child is engaged in; as well as events, key reminders, alerts and more! It is user-friendly and can be customized to fit your needs! We are one of the few Louisville daycare centers for preschool, school-age, and infant child care in this area that uses this technology.

We talked about acorns and the life cycle of the oak tree: acorn, seedling, young oak tree, and grown oak tree. The class each was given the opportunity to arrange the stages in order. They did an excellent job with this task. They made mosaic acorns with brown, orange, and red construction paper confetti. We practiced our scissor skills which is always an anticipated activity. We talked about the number one and each practiced writing it on the whiteboard.

I will began giving each student private assessments this week to gauge where they are academically and where I think they need to be by the end of the year. Don't worry about your child because everyone learns at a different speed, but they will all reach their designated target by the end of May. Learning is a journey.

The class practiced writing their letter of the week (D d) this morning and had to find the D among the other letters. We are discussing manners this week and we focused on table manners today. We went over acceptable and unacceptable behavior at the table while eating. They each practiced setting the table and they colored a place-mat that helps remind them of the proper placement of their dishes and utensils. We practiced our scissor skills today and several students were able to cut out shapes because their hands are much stronger now. The class made cookie dirt to complete our dirt cups for snack today. They are anxious to eat them after nap.
We had a little boy named (Deleted by A-Z) visit the classroom today and the class was very welcoming and gracious to him as he has never been in daycare before. I was very proud of how they treated him during his visit and several students invited him back to visit another day. We had a really good day together!!

We talked about dentists today and the importance of brushing your teeth twice a day. I demonstrated the proper way to brush your teeth...in a circular motion and the class practiced this technique. We used a visual to illustrate a cavity. I put some sharpie cavities on their laminated tooth and they attempted to brush them away. No matter how hard they brushed, they didn't disappear completely. We learned prevention is key. The class colored lips and then brushed the teeth with white paint in art today.

Here are some pictures that were sent from the parent app. Our lesson plan for the week at our Louisville preschool was safety. Specifically, learning about fire safety. The Fern Creek Fire Department came out to our facility and did a great job showing the children how the firetruck worked and gave them plenty of safety tips!

The children LOVED meeting the Fern Creek Fire Department and learning more about their job and equipment. They were so excited to experience a fire truck up close and personal. I would like to thank Mrs. Kim for setting this experience up for the center and especially my class. They were given a memory they will never forget and watching their faces was my gift.
